Canvas Short Film Connection
"Short Film" Screening of a short film with a condensed message
We will be holding an event to screen short films at CANVAS lounge on the 1st floor of the hotel.
Every Saturday night from 20:00, works by various creators are shown on the large screen in the CANVAS Lounge.
Kyoto has a connection to movies, so why not incorporate movies into your trip?
Short films, as they are called in Japan, are attracting attention as visual content that will lead to the next generation, and are characterized by strong messages that are not found in regular feature films.
Film festivals are held all over the world, and the film festival that has been held in Japan in recent years is said to receive entries from over 100 countries and regions every year.
Please enjoy short films that condense entertainment and messages into a short amount of time and invite viewers into the world of movies.

米国俳優協会(SAG)の会員でもある俳優 別所哲也が、米国で出会った「ショートフィルム」を、新しい映像ジャンルとして日本に 紹介したいとの想いから1999年にアメリカン・ショート・ショートフィルムフェスティバル創立。2001年には名称を「ショートショート フィルム フェスティバル(SSFF)」とし、2004年に米国アカデミー賞公認映画祭に認定されました。
また同年、アジア発の新しい映像文化の発信・新進若手映像作家の育成を目的とし、同年に 「ショートショート フィルムフェスティ バル アジア(SSFF ASIA 共催:東京都)」が誕生し、現在は 「SSFF & ASIA」を総称として映画祭を開催しています。
2018年には、映画祭が20周年を迎えたことを記念し、グランプリ作品はジョージ・ルーカス監督の名を冠した「ジョージ・ルーカス アワ ード」となりました。 2019年1月には、20周年の記念イベントとして「ショートショートフィルムフェスティバル in ハリウッド」が行われ、 2019年の映画祭より、ライブアクション部門(インターナショナル、アジアインターナショナル、ジャパン)およびノンフィクション部門の各 優秀賞4作品が、2022年からはアニメーション部門の優秀賞を含む5作品が、翌年のアカデミー賞短編部門へのノミネート候補とさ れる権利を獲得しました。SSFF & ASIAは映画祭を通じて引き続き、若きクリエイターを応援してまいります。
