Active travel is good, but since it's a trip between women, I want to relax and experience beautiful things. Our first destination was the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto. Located in Okazaki, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto, this area is about 20 minutes from Shijo by subway and on foot. It is a cultural area where various facilities such as the Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art, ROHM Theater, and Heian Jingu Shrine are gathered. After visiting Heian Jingu Shrine, where the vermilion torii gate stands out, head to the museum.
The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, which opened in 1963, is a museum with a long history. The modern exterior was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Fumihiko Maki, and the art inside the building includes a wide range of genres, including Japanese paintings, contemporary art, photography, and crafts.
