Installation of light art work "Hikariori" at the entrance approach

A permanent art gallery has been set up in the lobby after renovation, and the light art work "Hikariori" newly installed at the entrance will color the approach that welcomes guests with ancient light.

Hotel entrance light art "Hikariori"

Kyoto-based artist Kyota Takahashi's work of light, "Hikari Ori", is a work of light that weaves thin threads of light into the latticework ceiling and walls, creating an effect that looks like threads spinning a fabric. We are creating a "textile of light" by spinning the space with light. "Kasane-irome", which was used by the people of the ancient Heian period to express the change of seasons in Kyoto by combining the colors of silk clothing, is reflected in each of the twenty-four solar terms. You can feel it.
The program "Seimei" from April 5th is Yamabuki no Kasane <blue x yellow>. Kiyomyo, which is said to be an abbreviation for Kiyomiki, is the time when everything is pure and lively. The yamabuki, which blooms after the cherry blossoms, leads the transition from spring to summer with its dazzling golden color. Ao Yamabuki's attack is expressed with a color arrangement of the scene of Yamabuki's flowers peeking through the blue leaves from the many Yamabuki's attacks.

The sensibility of the people of the Heian Palace who incorporated the beautiful colors of nature into their costumes while anticipating them a little. There are norms for Soirome, which respects the season, and the appropriate time to wear them is determined. Using a modern understanding of seasonal colors and sensibility of color schemes, we will create light that blends in with the seasonal landscape of Kyoto along with the changing nature of Kyoto.
