"String Quartet Christmas Concert" to be held, featuring classical music

String Quartet Christmas Concert

The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Umekoji will be holding a Christmas concert again this year on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
This year's piece is a string quartet consisting of violin, viola and cello.
The harmonious sounds of string instruments echoing through the lobby will add to the excitement of Christmas Eve.

The concert will be held in the lobby, where a warm red and green Christmas tree and a Santa bear will be watching over the event.
The concert will feature songs that will be enjoyed by children, with a focus on Christmas songs.
Please drop in with your family, friends or loved ones after lunch or before dinner.

< Violin: Kodai Fukuoka >

Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts. Served as concertmaster for Kyoto City Junior Orchestra, Kansai Music University Orchestra Festival, and Kyoto City University of Arts Regular Concert. After graduation, he continues to perform mainly in the Kansai region, including recitals, orchestras, chamber music, and duo concerts with his younger brother Takuho Fukuoka (piano). He also devotes himself to mentoring the next generation. He has studied violin under Ikuyo Higuchi, Naoko Ishibashi, Sachiko Ishibashi, Chihiro Kudo, Yukiko Mise, and Yasushi Toyoshima, and viola under Yumiko Yamamoto. He has guest-performed with the Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, and Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. He is currently a member of the Osaka University of Arts and a contracted member of the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. His favorite fish is yellowtail.

After graduating from the Hyogo Prefectural Nishinomiya High School Music Department, she graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts with honors. She has received the Kyoto Mayor's Award and the Kyoto Music Association Award, among others. She obtained a diploma from the International Tadeusz Wroński Violin Course in Nałęczów (Poland). In addition to serving as a concert mistress for the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Orchestra, she has been involved in a wide range of performance activities since her time at the university, including holding solo recitals and guest appearances with professional orchestras. She is a scholarship recipient of the Aoyama Music Foundation in 2021.

< Viola: Tanaka Shiyori >

Born in Shimane Prefecture. Graduated from Kyoto City Horikawa Music High School and Kyoto City University of Arts. Won the Grand Prize and Hyogo Prefectural Governor's Award in the String Instruments B category at the 24th Kobe International Music Competition. Won the Jury Prize in the String Instruments category at the 31st Burckhardt International Music Competition. Serving as concert mistress at the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival in 2023. Studied violin under Takahashi Miho, Ashihara Mitsuru, Ikegawa Akiko, Urushibara Asako, Shikata Kyoko, and Togami Mari. Studied viola under Maruyama Kanade and Hosokawa Izumi.

Cello: Tomohiro Yamauchi

Born in Fukui Prefecture. Performed at the Fukui Prefecture Newcomer Concert. Won the Grand Prize in Division C and the Kobe Mayor's Award at the 27th KOBE International Music Competition. Won the highest award in the Chamber Music Division at the 31st Japan Classical Music Competition. Studied at the Kusatsu Summer International Music Academy and the Akiyoshidai Chamber Music Seminar. Studied cello under Arai Yui, Uno Tetsuyuki, and Mukaiyama Kaeko, and chamber music under Morita Reiko. Graduated from the Kyoto City University of Arts Graduate School of Music, Master's Program. Lecturer at the Fukui Junior String Ensemble Seminar. Lecturer at Hibari Music School.
